Open Call:

Tamasha Festival was founded in 2016 as a cross-discipline performing festival highlighting the talents of the emerging artists of South Asian Descent. Tamasha has continued through the years to celebrate the diverse perspectives, ideas, and imaginations of artists from the South Asian subcontinent and the diaspora. Tamasha seeks to provide opportunities for up-and-coming artists of South Asian origin to connect and collaborate. Tamasha Virtual Festival will be a monthly gathering to continue this work. We are seeking writers of South Asian Descent to submit monologues to be performed virtually by our community of artists.

As we commune virtually we want to highlight work that has been or will be created during this pandemic. We are requesting monologues of differing styles, no longer than 2 minutes in length. The content and themes can vary, and we are interested in pieces both written during the pandemic and before. Selected artists will receive a stipend for their work.

We are accepting submissions on a rolling basis from now until October 15th. In your submission please include your resume and pdfs of monologue(s)and email to info@hypokritnyc.org, with the subject line TAMASHA VIRTUAL MONOLOGUES. If you have any questions feel free to send them to Chelsea Fryer our Artistic Producer at Chelsea@hypokritnyc.org

We are eager to take this opportunity to read and familiarize ourselves with your work. We will reach out to learn more about your artistry, on a rolling basis, if we feel that your work can be performed in Tamasha Virtual.

Let’s dream together!
